Using and Creating Videos and Podcasts

There are many sources of video on the internet.

The following sites are good choices for finding video clips to use in your lessons.

  1. www.youtube.com
  2. http://streaming.discoveryeducation.com/ (available to LHSN teachers)
  3. www.teachertube.com
  4. www.wingclips.com (requires sign up, free for teachers)
  5. www.atomiclearning.com (software help, available to LHSN community)

Videos can be created and edited for class use using digital video cameras or flip video cameras. Keep in mind that not all video projects have to be long.
Videos are edited with iMovie. Videos can be saved as quicktime files or in the case of major projects be converted to DVD format using iDVD.

Podcasts are produced using Garageband and are often similar to a radio broadcast. An enhanced podcast contains pictures along with the narration and background music.
Garageband can also be used to create original music with lyrics. Musical ability is not required to do this.
